Sax Assault

Some of my most memorable, demanding, and downright enjoyable musical experiences have been as part of SaxAssault, Andy Scott's amazing 9 saxophones and rhythm section jazz funk supergroup. An incredible selection of world class musicians from such a huge variety of backgrounds come together to make a high energy, tight, driving band that literally blows audiences away. Several youtube clips out there, including one on my watch & listen page.

Some Sax Assault tour photos that about sum it all up.....

The whole band at the Life Cafe in Manchester (tour 2008)

Drummer Elliott Henshaw, with some after-show hospitality - warm cava and crisps....ah the glamour....

Simon Willescroft (foreground) in rehearsal in Manchester, with Bob Mintzer, Mike Hall and John Helliwell in background - not a BAD tenor section!!!!

Now that's an interesting looking pump.....

Lord Stackhouse himself, John Helliwell, with Dave Graham, Paul Kilvington and Mike Hall.

Andy Morel, Simon Willescroft and John Helliwell discussing reeds.....

Rob, Simon and Elliott looking relaxed on tour in Slovenia....
